The 1000 Butterflies for Non-Violence walk is an initiative of the Southern Domestic Violence Community Development Network (SDVCDN) and is going into the third year. This project originated from discussions about non-violence as an important mindset in tackling community issues, including Domestic and Family Violence. The concept of non-violence is not often spoken about, but it is valuable alternative for addressing the harm caused by violence, and challenges ideas around violence being acceptable.
This project is led by a group of workers and community members who give much of their time voluntarily to ensure this project has maximum impact. This project is run on minimal funding, but has proven to be an energizing day promoting non-violence in a safe environment.
